LaKendra Butler began her career in education in 2005 as a Teach For America corps member in Atlanta. She later served as a teacher, assistant principal, and school leader at KIPP TRUTH Academy in Dallas before joining the Tennessee Charter School Center to found STRIVE Collegiate Academy in Nashville. Over the next 13 years, she led the school with a steadfast commitment to empowering a diverse community of middle school students to take ownership of their learning, make meaningful contributions to their communities, and develop as lifelong learners. Today, LaKendra partners with schools across Nashville to strengthen leadership teams, build instructional excellence, and support sustainable school improvement. As a founder and experienced school leader, she is passionate about creating high-performing schools that provide every student with rigorous academics, strong character development, and equitable opportunities for success.
