Scott Benson

Scott is the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Provost's Office at Duke University, where he focuses on both global initiatives and special projects on campus. With a steadfast belief in the potential of education to transform the lives of individuals and uplift communities, he has spent his entire career working at the intersection of innovation and access in education. 

Prior to his role at Duke, Scott was Strategy Lead at Cambiar Education, where he managed several critical workstreams in organizational strategy, startup pipeline development, and entrepreneur support. Before joining Cambiar, he founded Trail B, a social impact consulting firm that provided strategic advisory services to mission-driven leaders in education and adjacent sectors. Previously, Scott designed and led several major grant portfolios at two leading education philanthropies - NewSchools Venture Fund and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He began his career in education as a Broad Resident in the D.C. Public Schools.
