Faculty

Stacie Kurtz is a national special education consultant based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. With a background in teaching and leading across all domains of special education, Stacie’s career has been dedicated to developing teachers and leaders to build systems and structures that improve outcomes for all students with disabilities, particularly in underserved communities. Prior to consulting, Stacie was the Director of Specialized Services for Collegiate Academies in New Orleans. Prior to that role, Stacie served as a school-based Director of Student Support and an interim school Principal. For the first 10 years of her career, she was a general education teacher in co-taught classrooms for students with high incidence disabilities, with most of her teaching experience at Achievement First charter schools in Brooklyn. Stacie is most proud of her time spent in the classroom, her impact on leaders and programs in many schools, and her contributions toward creating effective tools and practices that can be universally adopted across the country.

When asked why AMA is important to Stacie, here is what she shared:

AMA is important to me because it's an organization designed and committed to getting at the root of the need everywhere in education: teaching leaders to build and sustain authentic supportive programming for every type of learner. AMAs focus on mindsets, belief and intentional skill building is extremely valuable and I am invested in the change that can be seen daily in the work.
